4 petrochemical plants for TT
Trinidad and Tobago has signed an agreement with a US-based company allowing it to build four petrochemical plants. The plants will be built in southern Trinidad in the Union Estate industrial zone in the town of La Brea, said Kansas City, Kansas-based Coffeyville Resources LLC on Wednesday. Two of the plants will annually produce 1.5 million tonnes of ammonia, while the two others will produce two million tonnes of urea ammonium nitrate, the company said.
The memorandum of understanding has the objective of bringing added value to available natural resources while providing an economically reliable supply of nitrogen fertiliser to North America,” said Kevan Vick, Coffeyville Nitrogen Resources executive vice president, who is overseeing the project. Coffeyville Nitrogen Resources is an affiliated company of Coffeyville Resources LLC, an independent producer of petroleum and nitrogen fertiliser products. The company operates an oil refinery and associated support facilities, as well as a coke gasification-based nitrogen fertiliser in Coffeyville, Kansas. Trinidad and Tobago is the leading producer of oil, gas and petrochemicals in the Caribbean.
