Who will bear the brunt of the tax?

The mindset is that everything is being done to benefit the citizens but is it really the citizens who benefit? The political leaders are focused on generating revenue have lost focus of the social factors that significantly impact the country’s decreasing revenue. To be realistic, no tourist is going to vacation here if they know they can be robbed or killed.

Crime is climbing and unemployment has been escalating alongside a lack of employment opportunities. What is really going on? How are citizens to survive if they have to be watching over their shoulders and they have no jobs? Yet the Government finds the current situation fit for the implementation of the property tax. Who is this tax really going to affect? It’s definitely not the business owners or the elites. No, it’s the poor unemployed man.

The poor man who wakes every morning thinking of a new way to make ends meet, how to survive.

The poor man who has to face the increasing cost of living every month. With no job opportunities, how can he maintain and protect his family? It is the poor man who will be affected by the property tax.

But if the crime and unemployment rates are dealt with immediately, TT will see its way back to the place it once was — the land of sand, sea, and sun. However, the property tax will only make the situation worst and crime will increase as the unemployment rate will continue to rise.

So, we wait to see who will bear the brunt of the property tax.
