Trini bad drive

The Editor: Trinidadians are the most disgustingly rude and discourteous drivers that I have encountered, in many years of driving in Canada, the USA, and several islands in the Caribbean, including violent and aggressive Jamaica. Last Sunday, shortly before noon, while driving north on the Uriah Butler Highway well within the speed limit, I was tailgated by man driving a large green van, with four male passengers.  He sounded his horn, arrogantly indicating that I should get out of his way and as I was about to signal and move to the left lane he swerved to my left, overtook my car, moved quickly in front of me, then suddenly applied his brakes, while the three passengers in the back seat turned around to laugh at me as he sped off.  This is yet another sick Trini joke  in a nation of sick jokers!

Your newspaper has been reporting daily, the incidences of vehicular accidents caused by drunken driving, “hit and run,” and “bad drives,” most of which have resulted in death or serious injuries.  This incident could have been one of them on yet another rainy Sunday afternoon on the nation’s highways.  It was both a big bully issue, and a gender issue, as his van was much larger than mine.  I am female and the van had five male passengers.  How sick can you get? These idiots cause mayhem on our roads and they drive off with impunity leaving people dead, injured and/or severely traumatised. A report of this incident has been made to the Traffic Branch and the Chaguanas Police Station, but I doubt anything will come of it, until, of course, this driver kills someone on the road.  Don’t say I didn’t warn you, TT!
