Bandits shoot, rob three men
THREE persons were warded at San Fernando General Hospital on Christmas Eve after they were shot and chopped during two separate robberies in South Trinidad. Proprietor of a mini-mart at Southern Main Road, Rousillac, Prakash Boodram, 19, and one of his employees were attacked by two armed bandits who stormed the business place and announced a robbery. A police report stated that around 6.25 pm, Boodram and employees Rajkumar Boodram, 20, Shivam Maharaj, 21, Vijay Ganpath, 22, and Rajish Rajkumar, 21, were conducting sales in the mini-mart when two men armed with a cutlass and brandishing a shotgun, entered the establishment.
The report stated that Boodram was taken to the back of the mini-mart where an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen. The bandits relieved Boodram of $300 from his pocket. The bandits, police said, then fired several shots at Boodram and proceeded to chop Ganpath about his body. The two bandits then fled, the report stated, towards Southern Main Road, where they were joined by another accomplice. Police said all three confronted Krishendath Sookdeo and robbed him of his white B13 car. The bandits fired several shots at him. An Emergency Health Service ambulance was summoned and Boodram, Ganpath, and Sookdeo were taken to the San Fernando General Hospital for treatment. Snr Sup Nimrod and Oropouche officers are continuing investigations.
