Barrackpore West crowned FLOW Girls Under-16 champs

Batting first after winning the toss, Samaroo and Chrissy Ramlal proved too much as Holy Name were restricted to 75 runs for six wickets in their allotted 15 overs.

Anya Bledman made 10 but Extras were the main contributors with a total of 47, including 42 wides mainly due to the strong windy conditions that prevailed.

Samaroo claimed two wickets for 10 runs from three overs while Ramlal also grabbed 2/12 from three overs.

In reply, Samaroo smashed three fours in her knock of 27 while fellow opener Diana Mohammed (20 not out) struck the winning boundary as Barrackpore West triumphed with 21 balls remaining.

The Southern outfit reached 79/4 in 11.3 overs after Samaroo and Mohammed posted a match-winning 52-run first wicket partnership.

For Holy Name, Jesse Ferdinand (2/15) and Charlie Hood (2/18) shared the wickets.

Samaroo made a clean sweep of the top awards. She was voted “Player of the Match”, “Best Batswoman” and “Best Bowler”.
