Central hammer Tobago in Shell Under-13 semi

Batting first after winning the toss, Tobago were bundled out for 97 in 38 overs while Central romped to victory with 98 runs for three wickets in 16.4 overs.

Tobago’s captain Orlando James defied everything that the Central bowlers had to.

The 11-year-old James topscored with 43 that included two fours off 73 deliveries.

He shared a 38-run second wicket partnership with Josh Telemaque (four runs off 43 balls).

Leftarm spinner Rolyster Perreira took two wickets for 25 from seven overs while off-spinner Rajiv Ramnath finished with excellent analysis of 2/13.

In reply, Central suffered an early setback with the dismissal of Dillon Balkaran who was bowled by James for duck, with the total on 19/1 after 3.5 overs.

But they were no more jitters among the Central lads as Rajiv Ramnath partnered Coombs in a second wicket stand worth 46 runs in 6.1 overs.

Ramnath struck three fours and made 20 off 19 balls while Coombs made 17 off 35 deliveries.

Nick Ramlal remained undefeated on a run-a-ball 18 (two fours).

The Tobago bowlers struggled in the windy conditions and contributed 37 wides among the 38 extras as compared to the Central bowlers who conceded 19 wides in 26 extras.

Rajiv Ramnath was adjudged “Player of Match”.

Central’s coach Ishwar Ramnath was happy with his team’s performance and declared that “it was a very good team effort.” He said: “I think the boys played well and stuck to their task. Overall, it was a very good all-round team effort. The boys know their roles and they performed as we expected.”
