No issue with 360-camera

Persad-Bissessar reportedly expressed concerns about the use of a 360-degree camera when Rowley greeted her.

In a statement, Parliament’s corporate communications manager Jason Elcock said photographers were allowed into the room to cover the greeting between Rowley and Persad-Bissessar.

He said the Parliament had a conventional camera and a 360-degree camera in the room.

The 360-degree camera was located behind Rowley and Persad-Bissessar to photograph the entire room.

Other cameras would have photographed the 360-degree camera due to its location.

Elcock said “all cameras, including the 360-degree camera” were removed from the room before Rowley and Persad-Bissessar began their threehour meeting.

He also said the photo of Rowley and Persad- Bissessar’s greeting has been on the Parliament’s website since Tuesday evening.

Elcock stated the Office of the Parliament shares a very close relationship with the media and is “extremely disappointed” by the level of irresponsibility displayed by some sections of the media, “in seeking to make a story which caused undue concern where absolutely no story exists.”
