Another failure coming for big money
THE EDITOR: It has been reported in the print media that a former Jamaican Police Commissioner will become the director of a Caribbean Community Security Agency based in Trinidad. According to the report Jamaica which has a population of twice that of Trinidad and Tobago had a record high 1145 murders in 2004 under the astute leadership of the Caribbean Community Security Agency director to be. Jamaica in 2003 had 975 murders and that increased by 170 to 1145 which is a 17 percent increase. Trinidad and Tobago on the other hand increased from 229 to 260 which is a 12 percent increase. What we expect to hear soon is that the former Jamaican Police Commissioner failure will be paid in US dollars by the Trinidad and Tobago government.
It will do us all good to remember that Manning wanted someone outside the Police Service in Trinidad and Tobago to be in charge of security so it is not surprising to hear of a failure coming to Trinidad soon. Trinbagonians always claim to be a praying people and they usually call for a day of prayer when disaster strikes. Praying is good, rather, excellent. It is wise to pray before and after any event. I hope they pray before and after the Tobago House of Assembly election and also let us all pray before the Jamaican sets foot in Trinidad and Tobago. Be warned! Look at the person next to you, it could be the last time you will be seeing him or her.
