Carter’s struggles continue at World Swim Champs

Carter finished fifth in heat five in one minute, 47.77 seconds (1:47.77) breaking his national record of 1:48.44. Marwan Elkamash of Egypt won the heat in 1:47.40, followed by Khader Baqlah of Jordan in 1:47.68, German Clemens Andres Rapp in 1:47.69 and Kyle Stolk of the Netherlands in 1:47.71.

Carter finished 24th overall and did not advance to the semi-final round as only the top 16 qualified. On Sunday, Carter also missed a place in the semi-finals of the men’s 50m butterfly when he finished 19th overall.
