‘PH’ driver, passenger jailed

Edmund Seelal, 49, of Pascal Road, Piparo and Felix Bhola, 39, of Tabaquite stood before Senior Magistrate Cheryl-Ann Antoine charged with robbery with aggravation.

The charge alleged that on July 12, 2016, they robbed Daniel Deokumar, 54. Last month, the trial began after both men pleaded not guilty.

Deokumar testified that at about 10.30 pm, he flagged down a car at Reform Road Junction.

He told the driver he was going to Marabella. Seelal, he said, was driving and Bhola was in the back seat. The driver turned onto the Gasparillo Link road and stopped the car.

The victim testified that Bhola brandished a cutlass and shouted, “Gimme everything you have.” He was relieved of $260, a Nokia cellphone and a pack which contained cigarettes. PC Lyndon Ramcharan later charged the men. Yesterday, Magistrate Antoine ruled that the evidence showed Seelal was culpable although he was the driver. She then sentenced both men.
