Ankrah: I did nothing wrong

FORMER MISS Trinidad and Tobago winner, Cheryl Ankrah, has expressed her disappointment with being replaced for the upcoming Miss Universe 2005 pageant, saying she was not given an opportunity to present her case to the TT pageant committee. In a release yesterday, Ankrah said, “I wish to categorically state that I have not breached one single instruction, regulation, nor did I violate any code of conduct that was given to me by Peter Elias and Associates.”

According to Ankrah, who is still in London, she was dismissed by “unjustified allegations.” She said no prior indication was given with regard to her preparations for the competition, that would warrant such swift action to replace her. When Newsday contacted Peter Elias, he was disappointed to learn that Ankrah felt she was not given ample time to explain herself. “The committee gave her two weeks to explain her situation, but it resulted in her not being able to fulfil her duties,” said Elias. Elias told Newsday it was a very sad decision to make, as so much investment went into Ankrah.
