UNC ready to lead

THE EDITOR: On behalf of the Member of Parliament for Barataria/San Juan, Dr Fuad Khan, I would like to wish all our constituents and the national community the very best for 2005. Despite being saddled with a Government that bases its ability to govern on dictatorial tendencies, the people of Trinidad and Tobago have proven to be resilient in the face of many obstacles. In face of spiraling crime, heightened kidnappings, numerous road fatalities and flooding in several parts of the country, the people have endured. Dr Khan believes that the United National Congress is ready to provide the nation with the leadership required in the 21st century.

Rather than play god- father to the Caribbean, Dr Khan believes that the Prime Minister should concentrate on fixing our problems first, weeding out massive corruption and providing basic services to the entire population. With this Government in place, Dr Khan believes that 2005 will bring more of the same, unless we as a people decide to force the issues and let the Government know that what they are doing is unacceptable. From BWIA to Caroni to flooding to inflation, Government must be held accountable. If they are unable to provide governance that caters to the needs of the people and provide equilibrium in our society, Government should step down and allow other more capable people of holding the reigns of power. The only problem is this Government doesn’t know anything about honour!
