Minister orders probe into lewd SRP
Dillon told Newsday that he has asked for a full report which will guide the Ministry on whatever decision is taken on the future of the officer. Pressed to comment further, Dillon said he could not pre-judge the outcome of the probe. The officer, Newsday was told, could be sent on leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
Yesterday, Head of the Transit Police Superintendent Anthony Bernard told Newsday that the SRP remains on the job while the investigation is ongoing. “Right now I am in the process of preparing a report for Minister Dillon and I will be appointing an investigator to carry out the probe. But right now I am focusing on preparing a report for the Minister,” Supt Bernard said.
Bernard said he would not comment further on the matter. However, colleagues of the SRP believe she was ‘set up’ and that the photos were leaked by someone who did not have her best interest at heart.
On Sunday, the photo were shared more than 3,000 times and there were more than 350 comments.
One man said, “What a disgrace.
Remember when pride respect and integrity used to mean something?” Another wrote, “I think she was joking around. It was very wicked for someone to possibly ruin this girl’s life and career because of a joke. It’s probably some jealous person who did it.” Head of the Tobago Division Acting Snr Supt Joanne Archie yesterday said, “I am disappointed about what I have seen, but that is the most I am prepared to say at this time.” TTPS Head of Corporate Communications Ellen Lewis said the SRP in question is not a member of the TTPS but is assigned to the Transit Police.
