THE EDITOR: The allegation of misconduct against Mr Devant Maharaj of NLCB reported in the Sunday newspaper was expected. What else can one expect from those he defeated in the courts and for whom he still works? Maharaj, the Marketing and Public Relations Officer of National Lotteries (NLCB), had scored a major victory against his employers in the case of discrimination against him for promotion.

This charge of misconduct against Maharaj is a clear case of retaliation, revenge and victimisation. Maharaj, through his attorney Anand Ramlogan, has unmasked the prejudicial face of the State in, which the Prime Minister had a direct hand. Mr Maharaj, please stand strong. There is more victimisation to come. Do not let them pressure you into resignation, Mr Maharaj. Stay there and expose any act of corruption, nepotism and racism in that state agency. We are with you in the fight for fairness and transparency.
