Soca Warriors beaten 2-1 in warm-up

TRINIDAD AND Tobago footballers suffered a 2-1 loss to hosts Antigua/Barbuda in a practice match at the Antigua Recreation Ground, St John’s yesterday. Striker Nigel “Croc” Pierre got the lone item for the visitors, who had two goals disallowed during the encounter. The match was the only warm-up match for the 18-member Trinidad and Tobago team, who are spending this week in Antigua preparing for Sunday’s Digicel Caribbean Cup Third Round second-leg fixture against St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Team officials noted that the TT squad fared well in the humid conditions, following yesterday morning’s intense training session. The officials stressed that the technical staff, led by coach Bertille St Clair, have been engaging the team in training routines twice daily. “It has been a tough camp, and it has been exactly what the coach wants,” said one official, adding, “we’ll like to thank the Antigua Football Association for the excellent service that they have been doing.” In related news, technical consultant Graham Taylor joined the camp from London yesterday and was expected to meet with St Clair last night to discuss plans with the TT and British-based players.
