More potential landslides

THE Met Office in Piarco issued a bulletin yesterday afternoon warning that persistent rainfall over Trinidad and Tobago had left the soil saturated and as a result, there will be strong run-off which can lead to street and flash flooding in areas of heavy showers. Additionally, the bulletin stated, already loose soil in hilly areas may give way and could cause more mud and landslides.

Residents along the foothills of the Northern Range and in Tobago and road users within hilly areas are asked to exercise caution and be vigilant against street/flash flooding and possible mud and landslides. Showery activity is forecast to continue with the odd shower being heavy. The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service is monitoring the situation and will issue another advisory at 6 am today or sooner if the situation warrants. The release was signed by Meteorologist Marlon Noel.
