Accident and not murder killed Villafana
CONTRARY to reports of 15 murders in the country to date, the figure is really 14 (as correctly reported by Newsday yesterday), following an autopsy on the body of Keith Villafana, which revealed he died of injuries consistent with a vehicular accident and not murder. Daily newspapers (not Newsday) and several radio stations reported that there were 15 murders in the country, taking into consideration Villafana, whom they reported was murdered.
However, in Newsday’s report yesterday, we stated that Villafana was the victim of a hit-and-run accident and his body was identified by his step-son Sheldon Neckles, who is an undertaker. The autopsy, which was carried out by Pathologist Dr Mc Donald Burris at the Forensic Sciences Centre, revealed Villafana died of multiple internal injuries consistent with a vehicular accident.
Villafana’s body was found at the side of a road in La Romaine on Wednesday. Neckles subsequently identified the body when he was preparing to place it in a body bag. Police are now calling on motorists and/or pedestrians who may have seen the hit and run accident to contact them, since the killer driver had not been located up to yesterday. Villafana was from Robert Hill, Thicke Village, Fyzabad. Funeral arrangements are still being worked out. San Fernando traffic police are continuing investigations.
