Anti-Corruption cops search home of senior govt official
The Diego Martin home of a senior Government official as well as his office in Port-of-Spain were searched by officers of the Anti-Corruption Squad yesterday. A Government minister reportedly witnessed the search of the office. Reports reveal that around 9 am yesterday, officers armed with a search warrant searched the home of the Government officer in Diego Martin. The search is connected to ongoing investigations into the Incogen deal brokered under the UNC regime, and the Desal plant.
Newsday learnt that officers seized several documents. The senior official was unavailable for comment. Police sources told Newsday that the Incogen probe is nearing completion and a file on the matter will be submitted to Director of Public Prosecutions Geoffrey Henderson. Bob Lindquist, Forensic accounting expert from Canada, has been assisting the officers in the probe. Sources revealed that the same officers also searched the homes of a former WASA official and a well known contractor.
