Tell country the truth behind closure of NBN

OPPOSITION Senator Wade Mark yesterday called on Government to reveal “the truth” regarding last Friday’s closure of the National Broadcasting Network (NBN). “The Government has lied to the employees and to the country about NBN. “They have taken NBN and closed it down and they have now handed it to a party who will use it for their own benefit,” Mark declared during a press conference at the office of the Opposition Leader in Port-of-Spain.  

Mark also questioned Government’s handling of pertinent issues saying, “they closed down Caroni, they closed down NBN and they want to bail out Liat? What is really going on here?” Mark went further to state that State Enterprises are now being destroyed and closed down as a result of Government getting too deeply involved in “matters they should not.” According to Senator Mark, Government will now instruct State Enterprises to advertise on the new channel which is to replace NBN. “This is a dangerous development,” Mark said. Mark also touched on the issue of the escalating crime situation and lamented that the Government should put the country first and direct its energies in making the country safer for the citizens.
