Defence Force pound CFC in All Sectors n-ball

DEFENCE FORCE netballers continued their winning streak when they clobbered Caribbean Facilities Corporation 62-35 in Championship Division action in the All Sectors Netball League. And Fire whipped defending champions Police 47-39 in the other match in the same division at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena, Orange Grove Road, Tacarigua.

The Army-Coast Guard women took control of their match from the opening quarter which they led 21-6 and they never relented. Anastascia Wilson fired in 47 goals from 55 attempts for the winners and Lystra “Twinkletoes” Zamore netted 14 of 17 with Diana Pierre getting the other goal from her sole attempt. National skipper Janelle Barker scored 20 goals from 26 attmepts and Raquel Russell had 15 of 29 for CFC. Police could not cope with the youthful Fire girls, and after leading 11-10 at the end of the first quarter, they were outscored 12-10 to relinquish the lead 23-20 at the half-time interval. And Fire raged in the third quarter which they led 34-30 before closing out the champions, with Noel scoring 37 of 48 attempts and Simone Morgan 10 of 16. Donna Elise Charles led the policewomen with 22 goals from 33 attempts and Beverly Hernandez added 17 of 22.
