What right cockroach have in fowl run?

THE EDITOR: Patrick Manning would perhaps do well to reflect on the adage “cockroach have no business in fowl run” as emphasised by Kamla Persad- Bissessar admonition to AG Jeremie for evading debate on the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) Bill in the House of Representatives last Monday. But of course neither she nor the nation could have expected any better from the AG after his performance in the Rowley/Sharma affair, as he will no doubt be reminded by either or both sides on the Jamaican CCJ issue now to be heard before the Privy Council. Of what concern or relevance is it to Patrick manning of Trinidad?

Under our constitution he cannot legally introduce the CCJ as an alternative to the Privy Council without a three quarters majority vote in Parliament, which is unlikely in the absence of meaningful constitutional reform, which to him would represent certain defeat. Does he hope to bypass our constitutional requirements on the backs of the Jamaicans? That would be far greater abuse of power than those instances already adjudicated upon in favour of Devant Maharaj and Marlene Coudray. Is his decision to take over our Parliamentary building rooted in the achievement of imperial delusions via evasion of a Parliament elected for that purpose?

His recent reference to Orville London putting him in mind of the biblical saying  “In him am I well pleased” which was what God said of Jesus, his son brings this to mind. Mr Manning, far from a deity, falls short as an effective leader. His legacy will be one of a crime rampage of unprecedented proportions and appeals won by those discriminated against in other examples of cockroach fowl run proclivity. Unfortunately Mr Manning, we the people are not well pleased.

I fail to see why Mr Manning is interfering where it does not concern him when none of our other West Indian brothers interfered in the deadlock and ensuing debacle after 24/12/01, save the visit of Gonsalves and Ingram which was calculated solely to offer the legitimacy denied him by the electorate on 10/12/01. Our Prime Minister would do better to direct his attentions to ongoing problems he swore an oath to solve in TT, like murder, kidnap, flooding; educational shortcomings and simple traffic jams, to ameliorate his own citizens plight; unless of course that is of course secondary importance to him. The mandate of 7/10/02 never extended to Jamaican or any other Caribbean internal issues.
