Skippy’s Dream enjoys slop at Santa Rosa

SKIPPY’S DREAM is ready for Saturday’s Arima Race Club Day Two racing. The four-year-old bay filly skipped over 400 metres at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, yesterday morning in the excellent time of 24.06 seconds, seemingly enojoying the sloppy underfoot conditions. And Sure Ting also enjoyed the conditions in flashing her form over 600 metres in 34.05 seconds. The speedy Sunday Jewel sent out warning signals that she was rounding into form with a good gallop over 800 metres completed in 49.58 seconds.

Another who seemed to relish the slop was American-bred three-year-old Life In The Sky from the Glenn Mendez barn. This chestnut colt must be reckoned with in his chosen race on Saturday should conditions come up the same as yesterday morning, as he stepped 1000 metres in a handy 1:06.49 seconds. Apart from these three runners, most trainers settled for pace work with their charges. Horses are expected to have their final let-down gallops this morning to taper off for Saturday’s programme.
