Public Health Inspector kidnapped

A 51-year-old Public Health Inspector attached to the Princes Town Regional Corporation was kidnapped after leaving Grand Central Recreation Club, Curepe, on Monday night. Reports revealed that around 7 pm on Monday, Rupert Ramjattan alias “Muslim” was entering his Prado vehicle, when he was confronted by two men armed with guns. He was ordered into his vehicle by the gunmen. The vehicle was found abandoned in St Augustine. Up until late yesterday, the kidnappers had not demanded a ransom for the safe return of Ramjattan.

A female relative of Ramjattan reported to the police that she received a telephone call at her Trincity home from a man who claimed that Ramjattan was in his custody. He promised to call back, but never did. Officers of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad gave Ramjattan’s address as Boundary Extension Road, San Juan. When Newsday visited his apartment, no one was at home. Residents of the area claimed that Ramjattan lived at Boundary Road and Trincity. His kidnapping is the third for the year.
