Respect in my own country

THE EDITOR: In 1962 Dr Williams stated in Parliament that Indians fifteen years and older (not counting the under fifteens) made up 34 percent of the population. After the second world war, there was a proliferation of children in the western world, and it is logical that the under fifteen made up 20-25 percent of this group so why was the percentage of those under fifteen left out? Was it because more than fifty percent of the population were Indians? Our government for the last forty years has been building houses for the poor people but the more they build is more poor people we seem to have.

Where are they coming from? Is there a scheme perpetrated to increase the population of people of a certain ethnic group by way of the underground banana boats? People who hide in the hills of the East/West corridor only to emerge later with false ID cards and Passports obtained through sworn affidavits, then claiming to be born here. Today it is sickening to listen to those underground immigrant callers with accents from up and down the Caribbean spewing hatred on Indians on certain talk shows. The last general elections saw some of them calling for riots in the streets if the UNC should win. Well nothing can be enjoyed that is derived from deceit.
