‘Get real’ Mr National Security Minister
THE EDITOR: Mr Martin Joseph has again amazed this writer by yet another reaction. On this occasion, he’s responded to an article penned by Carol Williams under the headline “Kidnappings send a chill through sunny Trinidad” which appeared recently in the Los Angeles Times. Mr Joseph is taking to task the article on the sorry state of kidnapping in TT, describing the article as incredibly biased, incorrect and uninformed. Wow! Joseph went on to say that the article was clearly devoid of any thorough investigation and begged the question as to whether any amount of time was spent analysing the country’s socio-economic dynamics or even speaking to a wide cross-section of the population.
Take dat! Mr Joseph is reminded like most of his colleagues, he holds a degree in “procrastination” and that’s the main problem which has contributed to our country’s ills today. What thorough investigation does he want? How much time must he spend analysing the country’s socio-economic dynamics? What cross-section of the population is he referring to? Instead of making all these irrelevant utterances Mr Joseph should rather advise the citizens of this country and the Los Angeles Times what action he and his Government intend to take, ensuring that kidnappings along with the criminal element are exterminated altogether. Mr Joseph ought to address the “out of control” crime situation in TT in a constructive, positive and effective manner without making excuses day in and day out. It’s about time Mr Joseph acts not react.
