Warner’s ‘Atlantis’ party is on
THE Carnival Sunday party — “Discover Atlantis” — at 31 Sunset Drive, Bayshore, is on. Daryan Warner, son of Concacaf president Jack Warner, got the “okay” from the Environmental Management Agency (EMA) yesterday to hold his all-inclusive fete at his residence on Sunday. Daryan’s brother Daryll Warner told Newsday they had received EMA approval and the party was going ahead. “There will be parking at St Anthony’s College grounds and a shuttle service will be provided,” he said. He added that there will be 35 security officers. Yesterday, five disgruntled residents from the area met with two officials from the EMA in an effort to stop the party.
Fifty-four residents signed a petition, which was given to Police Commis-sioner Trevor Paul, the EMA and MP for the area Dr Keith Rowley. Dr Rowley refused to comment on the situation saying, “that is not an important issue.” When Newsday visited the Bayshore community, a number of residents were upset about the fete. One woman, who preferred to remain anonymous, said when she moved into the area she expected a certain standard of living. “Our primary concerns are security and the difficulty of moving our cars. The road is too narrow to have so many cars enter our area. On top of that, this is an upscale neighbourhood and we do not know who these people are,” the woman said. The party is expected to begin at 4 pm and end at 11 pm.
