Miss Central Trinidad crowned

A CAPACITY crowd at the Couva Car Park on Friday night loudly applauded the crowning of Tishal  Edwards, 24, (Miss KS Chinpire Contractors Ltd) of Marabella, as the Miss Central Trinidad  Carnival Queen at a show organised by the Couva Carnival Committee. Her two appearances on stage, first in costume as “the Goddess of the Sun,” and in her evening gown described as “Soca Sweetness,” and the impact she created with the crowd obviously gave her an added advantage over the eight finalists, and it was no surprise that she captured the crown in startling fashion.

The 2005 Queen, daughter of Mr and Mrs George Edwards, said that the victory has “improved my self-confidence and self-esteem and has boosted my ability to face the world demonstrating positive values as I go through the paces of life’s journey.” Edwards, who got her primary school education at San Fernando Girls’ Anglican and her secondary at  Pleasantville Junior and Senior, is a Customer Service Representative at TSTT,  in the Mobile Finance Department. Her ambition is to open her own advertising agency and to become an independent individual in the business world. The winner will  automatically be placed among the contestants for the Miss Sugar and Energy Festival Queen contest to take place in late May. First runner-up was T’shana Lackhee, 19, parading as Miss Presidential Insurance, while the second runner-up was Jamie Rattan, 22, (Miss Millennium Holdings Ltd).
