Shurwayne ahead on the road

Looking to repeat last year’s Road March victory, Shurwayne Winchester dominated play on the road yesterday with his song “Dead or Alive.” At the three venues for the Parade of Bands — Queen’s Park Savannah, Downtown, and Adam Smith Square — Winchester was ahead of the field. The tune was also tops at the Kiddies Carnival on Saturday, which provided an early hint, although this does not count towards Road March honours. The true test for Winchester will come when bands select their song to play at each judging venue today, the second day of mas. Also in the running is Iwer George with “Tension,” Destra Garcia with “Fly,” and KMC with “First Experience.”
