Fed up and disappointed

THE EDITOR: For the fifth consecutive year, being a spectator at the Grand Stand, Queen’s Park Savannah, was a very refreshing experience and a day well spent in the company of friends, who managed to save the day. gain I was totally disappointed by the various presentations put on by the bands. In fact they failed to live up to expectations — yellow, green, blue, red and so on and each presentation looking just as the one that had gone by before; it was difficult to differentiate one costume from another.

At 2.45 pm the “dreaded” announcement came that the band “Poison” will be approaching the stage. Well I began to prepare my “psyche.” For the second year running, they disappointed me. What else can I say about the band “Poison,’ they were just being poison and that was precisely what it was? I cannot blame the organisers of the band, for Poison is a Trinidadian band, with a Trinidadian psyche, and is just part of the lawlessness which exists in the society, so I would refrain from using words that are so appropriate to its conduct on stage. “Poison” I say hats off to you for being again who you are.

At 4.45 pm, the final section is now crossing the stage, and by then again, they did not fail to leave me disgusted, fed up and totally upset. I spoilt my Carnival Tuesday again. What next for the band Poison? I hope next year (2006) they will convinced me to join the band and be part of the lawlessness which is Carnival Tuesday.
