Credit card stolen from local bank
THE EDITOR: On Saturday February 5 (Carnival Saturday), I went to a bank in St James to retrieve money with my Visa card. When I inserted my card the transaction did not go through and the screen indicated that the ABM machine was out of service. As the bank was closed for that entire weekend, I called the bank and informed them of the problem. They then told me that they were aware of the problem and suggested that I return to the branch when they cleared the machine.
When I went they told me to return the following day as the machine would not be cleared until later on that day and to return the following day. They told me they didn’t locate my card when I returned. I then called Visa in New York and they informed me that someone got a hold of my card and was using it exorbitantly and the mater would be investigated. I didn’t block the card immediately as I trusted that it would be retrieved from the machines as I was told.
