Barbados, Leewards on knife’s edge

MOLYNEAUX: Barbados narrowly earned first innings points yesterday, but a five-wicket haul by Leeward Islands fast-medium bowler Kerry Jeremy stole the spotlight on the second day of their seventh round match in the Carib Beer Series regional tournament. Jeremy, who captured five for 53, his successive five-wicket return, and medium-fast bowler Carl Simon, who bagged four for 53, both combined to undermine the Barbados first innings for 204 in two sessions, as they replied to the Leewards’ paltry 195. When bad light stopped play 12 overs early, Barbados had hit back to leave the home side on a wobbly 64 for three.
