Help the good children of TT

THE EDITOR: It is a novelty to see what parents have sown, in the way children are reacting to situations in life. Are parents letting their sons and daughters know that the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof; the world and they that dwell therein?(Psalm 24). When we die is there anything that we can possible hold on to.

The Egyptians used to bury their kings with food and jewelry and the like, and also one or two of the kings servants, in the belief that when they awake on the other side they will have something to start with. But a lot of archaeologists, have revealed that everything is still there, even after all these years. A joke was told to me, where a man asked his sons to bury him with all his money when he dies. The eldest son, wrote a cheque and rested it in his hands on the day of the funeral (the dad’s). The younger son asked him why he did not give their dad his wish? The elder son said, “I wrote him a cheque, he can cash it when he wakes up.” I talk about these things because children are not being taught the importance of ‘‘nothing lasts forever, so if it’s not yours leave it alone or if you want it ask for it.”

Children are stealing from the first year level at school upwards. It is getting more rampant. Parents your sons and daughters are out of control. Mrs Manning, the teaching situation is getting worse. We are going to lose our teachers. The children are intolerable, and the teachers cannot cope. And we are burying our heads in the sand like ostriches. When a meeting is called for the confrontation of these parents, they don’t attend. And the child cannot be put out of the school or class. Teachers cannot leave their bags on the desk for five minutes, something gets stolen. They cannot discipline a child properly, because the ‘law says,’ and ‘the rule is,’ and ‘it is in the curriculum.’ Please Mr and Mrs Manning, help the good children. What about those who are not like these little monsters? Do they have to suffer because they are different? Are we sending out a message that it is more ‘constitutional,’ to be bad.

When a child misbehaves in class, the whole class is distracted. So much time is being spent fixing things, that there isn’t enough time to teach anything new. Hence the reason we now have a disc so tiny, yet can hold over 500 messages or some such. Everything has to be fast paced. Parents have to teach their children to read and write because for the whole term “Boyo or Carla,” has been giving so much trouble, there was no time to do anything else. Can’t you all see why there is so much technology, yet there are millions of people out there who have to go back to school, just to learn to read and write.

The Bible says, ‘‘Spare not the rod and spoil the child.’’ It doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to beat that child, but show them wrong from right. They don’t always automatically know it. I would like to one day hear one parent come forward publicly and say their child is guilty and I am the cause. It is always police brutality, or the neighbour’s son or daughter’s fault, or bad company. Does the fact that you did not teach that child right and wrong ever register? What about the time he came home from first year class with a pencil or crayon that did not belong to him? What about the time when he came home with new sneakers that you did not buy?
