PowerGen recover in Carib Shield

SEAN SILOCH grabbed early wickets (3 for 23) but PowerGen Sports recovered to reach 150 all out in their National Cricket League Carib Shield second round match against arch-rivals FCB Clarke Road at Wilson Road, Penal yesterday. Jason Mohammed struck one six and two fours for a quickfire 25 while Nicholas Ramphal, 26, and Brent Harriot, 29 carried the visitors to 150 all out off 29.2 overs.

PowerGen were 87 for five wickets after 20 overs but they staged a recovery through the efforts of Harriot who topscored with 29 as they racked up a further 63 runs off the last ten overs. Alvarado Bryce pulverised his former W-Connection Wanderers clubmates when he guided his new team Felicity Invaders to a challenging 151 all out off 27.4 overs at Gilbert Park, California in a key Group “C” encounter. After his team won the toss and batted, Bryce slammed one six and nine blistering fours off 73 balls. And together with Varun Ramnarine, who made 29 (3x4s), they added 69 for the fifth wicket partnership and carried the score from 56 for four wickets to 123 for five. Their match-saving partnership for the Division Two team was realised off 10 overs and Bryce batted for exactly 100 minutes against the defending champions.
