Guyana, Barbados on weather watch

GEORGETOWN: With the last game in Guyana ending in no-result after three days were complete rain-outs, it appears as though today’s eighth round Carib Beer Series game between Guyana and Barbados is likely to be  hampered also as the weather has not noticeably improved. Both teams, on different ends of the points table, will be desperate for a favourable result but for entirely different reasons.

Guyana, in joint third position with the Windward Islands on 38 points would want to gain maximum points and try to escape from the clutter of teams behind front-runners Jamaica. Barbados, though it is mathematically possible for them to still reach the final, would be hunting a full quota of points in an effort to finish as high as they could after a slew of defeats has them in unfamiliar territory in bottom spot.

Teams: GUYANA: S Chanderpaul (capt), R Ramdass, S Chattergoon, N Deonarine, A Fudadin, L Cush, D Daesrath, M Nagamootoo, V Nagamootoo, R King, E Crandon, I Jafarally
BARBADOS: C Browne (capt), S Campbell, M Nurse, D Richards, R Hinds, D Smith, K Williams, J Parris, P Browne, J Bennett, P Collins, F Edwards, R Nurse.
