God decides evil
THE EDITOR: I refer to Kevin Baldeosingh’s review of Alexander Waugh’s book Review 2000,” Newsday February 28,2005 chapter four. I quote: “For instance, one of the subtitles to chapter four asks the question, which is bigger, heaven or hell? Waugh argues: “At the last judgment it is said that God will choose only the “elect” to join him in eternal life. “Straight is the gate and narrow is the way,” Jesus said (Matthew 22:14). “This theology presents a problem, if only a few super-righteous people manage to make it to heaven, most souls will presumably end up in hell.
This means, not only that hell must be bigger than heaven, but that God (though omnipotent and infinitely good) has somehow managed to create a universe which is predominantly bad.” Mr Baldeosingh and Mr Waugh are both on a fishing expedition. The sun is so big that a million earths could be put into the sun and there would still be plenty of room to spare. God said that he will create a new universe. Now as a form of punishment God may allot to each person in hell 2,500 sq ft of living space and to each person in heaven as part of their reward 100,000 sq ft of living space in which case heaven will be bigger than hell and more comfortable.
Again the idea that God, “though omnipotent and infinitely good, has somehow managed to create a universe which is predominantly bad” is false. God destroyed people on earth with a flood, he destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, he allowed the devil to torment Job, he still remains omnipotent and infinitely good. If any person kills another person for any reason except self-defence he will be considered a bad person. No act is evil or bad in itself if God commands it. Any act that God forbids is bad and evil. Simply put, disobedience to the will of God is evil. And last, but by no means least, heaven will not be peopled by super-righteous people but by many who have sinned but availed themselves of the redemption offered by Jesus Christ by his passion on the cross.
