Eight races at Santa Rosa on Saturday

THERE will be only eight races on Saturday, Day 8 of the Arima Race Club 2005 racing season. The ARC stewards were forced to cancel the original feature, the Handicap 2 and Lower sprint, when only three horses were entered for the 1200 metres race. But despite the quantity of races, Saturday’s programme promises to be very competitive. The Restricted Handicap over 1350 metres is now the day’s feature, and it looks like a turfite headache. Speedsters Isle Be True, Life In The Sky, Movietowne Magic, the improving Kavita Nadira and oldstager Bon Voyage all hold the engagement among the eight-horse field.

Another teaser will be the 1600 metres Optional Claiming race on the turf course, in which City Of Lights who has been showing good form at gallops, Comanchero and Trini To D Bone hold the engagement among the 13-horse bunch. The day’s opener also promises to be start of the turfites bother, with Squee Zintru, Renaissance Man, Life In Russia and Mandela engaged. And Chavez will get his chance to show his worth ahead of the classic Flamingo Stakes, when he faces up to seven other maiden three-year-olds over 1100 metres.
