Badree, 121, blazes Wanderers

Samuel Badree finally got a chance to prove himself when he battered W-Connection Wanderers bowlers for an impressive 121, which carried PowerGen Sports to first honours in their Carib National Cricket League fourth round match at Syne Village yesterday. Wanderers had made 239 in their first with the aid of an exact hundred by  40-year-old veteran Narine Bidhesi and they had the PowerGenBoys in serious trouble at 55 for four at the close of play on Saturday.

But Badree demonstrated that PowerGen posses the talent to match their opponents. Defending champions FCB Clarke Road also found a new batting hero in Ryerson Bhagoo who belted Alescon Comet for a brilliant unbeaten 129 at Wilson Road yesterday. Bhagoo, a University of the West Indies graduate was scoring his maiden Division One century with one six and thirteen fours off 178 balls.  Clarke Road were in total disarray at 103 for the loss of seven wickets. But Bhagoo featured in two century partnerships for the eighth and ninth wicket. With skipper Mahadeo Bodoe (46) propped up the team with a 101-run eighth wicket partnership and then found Mukesh Persad (48) a valuable partner for 103-run which carried them beyond Comet’s first innings of 261.
