Clueless or blissfully ignorant

THE EDITOR: Is the Ministry of Education so clueless about their function or are they so blissfully happy in their ignorance. I have never met a system or a people who work in a department and pride themselves on explaining away their responsibility. I have been transferred to NALIS (from frying pan to fire!) since 2002, May. I am owed increments since 1999 until the transfer by the Ministry of Education. I have secured staff reports up till 2003. The good ministry still finds it necessary to tell me today that I need to ask my current employer to write their Civil Service Department of the ministry to instruct them to send my file to paysheets so that they can process my increment and send my updated salary particulars to NALIS! Their efforts to frustrate me are commendable!

I have a letter that NALIS wrote to the ministry in November last year asking them for the same information! I have been knocking on their door for the past three years trying to secure what is mine! Yet there is always a problem. I have reached my wits end with these people! All you have to do is get my file updated, my salary audited and send the money to the bank and the new salary to NALIS! For the past three years that cannot happen! What is really going on? And you want to talk about Vision 20/20 Mrs Manning!

To add more corn to the craw. Full-time teachers have received their hot new salaries! Yet those who perform yeoman service for the part-time classes (called continuation classes!) are still receiving their old salaries. Those who are looking forward to retroactive backpay which will result from this, have a better chance of seeing God’s face! Although a new better rate has been agreed upon, the ministry is dragging its feet in augmenting the old salary. Why? Because they are part-time. These teachers work as hard as any other and they deserve better treatment. Enough is enough! This ministry needs a good overhaul. Somebody do something in this ministry! It is disgusting!
