He could be a Sure Wager tomorrow

SURE WAGER galloped his way into the reckoning for Starter Allowance race over 1600 metres on the turf course on Day 10 of the Arima Race Club season at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, tomorrow. The Cyril “Greypatch” Arneaud-trained five-year-old looked very lively in his 600 metres gallop yesterday morning, clocking 36.19 seconds for the effort. Only on Wednesday, Sure Wager stepped 1000 metres in a handy one minute 08.22 seconds, together with three-year-old Cinco De Mayo. Another to give notice of his form was the speedy American-bred three-year-old Soundsgoodtume.

He was very lively over 600 metres in 37.90 seconds from the boxes yesterday. The Grant Lourenco-trained Twice Infallible also showed he must be considered in the feature Handicap 1 & Lower race over 1300 metres, when he sped over 600 metres also yesterday in the best time of the morning — 36.87 seconds. The creole Man Of Class who also hold this same engagement cannot be left out of the reckoning, and he showed this when clocking a handy 26.54 seconds over 400 metres. Firepower who is entered for the West Indies-bred three-year-old race over 1350 metres, showed some sparkle in a 400 metres gallop completed in a brisk 23.93 seconds from the boxes.

But Amigo Mio, in the same race, went effortlessly over 600 metres in 39 seconds flat from tbe boxes. Another eye-opening gallop came from the filly As Time Goes By who came out of the boxes for a spin over 600 metres completed in 37.90 seconds. Meanwhile, top jockey Emile Ramsammy will give his final workshop on Sunday before returning to Canada to ride at Woodbine, at the start of the new season there. This workshop will be held at the Grand Stand, Level 2, from 10 am.
