Still paying more to TSTT

THE EDITOR: Being one of a very rare breed of librarians who do not read the newspapers, listen to the radio or watch television, news filters to me second, third or fourth hand, so that when I heard TSTT was slashing overseas rates, I was overjoyed, but unknowingly in for a real shock. When I received my current bill, I was busy looking for a decrease in my charges for overseas calls, only to learn, upon checking, to my consideration that the decrease applies only to calls outside of the Caribbean.

So, do you know what that means? For me, again being that very rare breed of West Indian who does not call the United States of America except perhaps once a year, it means no decrease in my bill at all. Now, I understand I am to pay more for local calls, and that will include my Internet use, and the same for my overseas calls, so I will be paying more to TSTT.

Another instance of giving with one hand and taking back with the other. I must admit I find my local charges exorbitant. Indeed, even though TSTT has presumably not yet increased the local charges, I find my monthly bill inordinately high. My overseas charges for one bill eg amount only to $64.02, but the bill totals $437.37! My bill for the preceding month was nearly $400.00. For one person only using a telephone, those charges are high. Over to you TSTT, what do you intend to do to help me, and others like myself who scarcely have any tracking with international calls?
