Injured TT Warriors fit again
INJURED national footballers are on the mend and back in training. Midfielder Densil “Bleeder” Theobald who missed both 2006 World Cup qualifying matches against Guatemala and Costa Rica because of an instep injury, had the cast removed and is set to make a return with his team Caledonia AIA/Fire next Tuesday. Also back in training are Arnold Dwarika (ankle strain) and Derek King. And English-born defender Ian Cox has also recovered from a hamstring injury which ruled him out of the Guatemala match. All players are in a race to return to fitness ahead of the return to Trinidad and Tobago of new national coach Leo Beenhakker early next month.
Theobald, an ex-Malick Senior Comprehensive player who has been one of the emerging players said he believed the introduction of Beenhakker will spark a revival by the Warriors. Theobald also anticipates a move to the overseas professional circuit, with English side Queen’s Park Rangers expressing interest along with MLS side Kansas City Wizards. Meanwhile, midfielder Leslie Fitzpatrick returned to Atlanta on Friday and is expected to sign a new deal in the MLS this week.
