Fatima, Toco into InterCol cricket quarters

FATIMA College and Toco Composite advanced to the PowerGen Secondary Schools Cricket League InterCol quarter-finals scheduled for today. In their North-East Zonal play-offs, outstanding allrounder performances by Milton Dookran and Clifton Halls piloted Fatima to a comfortable 88-run victory over St Anthony’s College at their Mucurapo-based ground. Dookran and Halls contributed 49 and 39 respectively while Harvey Roopchand made a solid 49 as Fatima amassed 175 for five wickets off their allotted 30 overs.


Halls claimed three wickets for 15 runs while Dookran bagged two for 19 as they shot out St Anthony’s for a paltry 87, giving Fatima a safe passage to the quarter-finals. And Toco Composite made light work of Hillview College in their clash at the Rampalnagas ground, Balandra. The northerners won easily by eight wickets. In the quarter-finals; defending champion Barrackpore Secondary will take on Toco Composite at Pierre Road, Charlieville; Presentation College, Chaguanas challenge St Mary’s College at Serpentine road; Princes Town Senior Comprehensive tackle Fatima at Presentation College, Chaguanas ground and Naparima College do battle with El Dorado Secondary at Presentation College, San Fernando ground, Union Hall, San Fernando. All matches start at 10 am.
