TWO-TIME “Horse of the Year” Sugar Mike is ready for his recovery mission in the Santa Rosa Dash over 1200 metres. The American-bred son of Ponche/No Sugar showed this on Sunday morning at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, when he stepped 1000 metres in the excellent time of one minute 01 seconds. And champlion two-year-old Arts And Lovers will also be seeking to repay turfites in the Gleneagle Stakes or Fillies Guineas. This filly glided through 1000 metres in a good one minute 03.83 seconds to show off her well-being.

Another to show some spark on Sunday was Fantastic Story who galloped over 1000 metres in one minute 01.40 seconds on the turf course. Also on Sunday, Naturelly Classy and Cinco De Mayo looked good in their 1000 metres spin in a handy one minute 06.66 seconds, while Skippy’s Dream was timed in one minute .546 seconds for a similar gallop. Flying Millie, another Gleneagle contender went over 1000 metres in company with Prince Charming, the pair getting back in a handy one minute 09.44 seconds.

And old man Mandela showed he still had a spring in his step, going over the trip in a very handy one minute 04.14 seconds. Miss Julie stopped the clock at 36.44 seconds in a handy 600 metres gallop, while Flying The Flag and Chief Commander finished in 37.35 seconds and Right Decision and Fresh Appearance 37.38 seconds over the same trip Yesterday morning, it was 2Sharp who caught the eye, galloping 1000 metres in one minute 06.93 seconds, while Heavensent was clocked in one minute 06.83 seconds.
