Where was Ms Lucky all this time?
THE EDITOR: I am one of those who are so pleased and yet amazed at the rude awakening of Ms Gillian Lucky out of the UNC bed. I mean, where was she all this time when Mr Panday and his UNC had been displaying and continue to display that among their many weaknesses and deficiencies, a lack of morality, integrity, truthfulness and love for country were paramount. You mean with all the wisdom, education, intelligence, training and naturally-blessed ability that Miss Lucky has, she had to wait for Mr Panday to “read and spell” for her before she could come to her senses. There have been so very many examples over the years and most especially in recent years where Mr Panday and his UNC have been attacking and attempting to destroy the country’s various institutions based on disrespect and hate — where has Gillian been?
Trinbago continues to be astonished greatly at the sustained membership in the UNC of people like Mr Gerald Yetming and Mr Dookeran. On the very morning when the news of Gillian hit the road, I remarked to someone that one of the persons who surprised me by this persistent UNC membership and association was Dr Fuad Khan: only to learn on the evening of the same day that he joined with Gillian in exhibiting his dissatisfaction with Mr Panday’s deplorable utterances. Am I becoming clairvoyant? But all praises to God and to the deceased Pope John Paul II. John Paul was really something else during his lifetime, given the very many changes and good influences in the world he brought about with prayer, God’s guidance, assistance and direction.
Could it be that in death he has already attained sainthood so that he has already begun to work miracles through his prayers for us. It obviously took a miracle to awake Gillian! In his sainthood, may he continue to pray for the miserable world he left, not forgetting Trinbago which, among other things, greatly needs to be spared the negative effects and influences of Mr Basdeo Panday and his minions. My experience is that Mr Panday is allowed to get away with so much that is wrong and deprecating. I get the impression that the journalists and people in the society who could really assist the country are afraid of openly constructively criticising him and his party because of a possibility of his returning to power no matter how remote that possibility is.
