Trainers opt for pace work at Santa Rosa
TRAINERS took to pace work with their charges at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, yesterday, as they get ready for tomorrow’s 11-race Day 12 Arima Race Club programme. But St Mike from Cyril “Greypatch” Arneaud’s barn stood out with a steady gallop pover 1000 metres in a handy one minute 08.74 seconds. This three-year-old son of Time For A Trick/Northern Rose continues to be on the improve, and should be in the shake-up in the 1100 metres event for maidens on the turf course. Running Trick also had a good gallop over the same trip, stopping the clock at one minute 09.27.
All horses with engagements in the Santa Rosa Dash apart from Cash Wager from champion trainer John O’Brien’s stable and Invincibility from the Jack Debideen barn were seen out. And both were just “shaking a leg” over 400 metres, with Cash Wager comnpleting his run in 29.99 seconds and Invincibility a shade faster in 29.98 seconds. But Gleneagle Stakes “big noise” Flying Millie was sent to pace over 800 metres, returning in 42.60 seconds, while another entrant, Really Quiet was clocked in at 44.33 for the same distance. Condoleeza who also holds the Gleneagle Stakes engagement paced over 400 metres in 28.04 seconds.
