Powell smashes 140 for Parkites


JAMAICA-born Ricardo Powell sent a timely reminder to the West Indies cricket selection panel, with a stroke-filled 140 for Queen’s Park in their sixth round Carib National Cricket League Division One clash against Tile It Central Sports at Presentation Ground, Chaguanas, yesterday.


At the close, the Parkites were dismissed for 345, with Timothy Sinanan and Nicholas Ramjass both returning identical figures of three wickets for 67 runs. Cellar-placed Central Sports were 28 for one wicket at the close.


Theodore Modeste grabbed four wickets for 26 and leg-spinner Sanjeev Gooljar four for 72 as leaders W Connection Wanderers restricted Ceramic Merryboys to 279 at the Diego Martin Recreation Ground.


All-rounder Richard Kelly blasted his way to 95 while captain Lincoln Roberts added 78.


Wanderers were 110 for three in response with the prolific William Perkins unbeaten on 46.


Action concludes today from 9.30 am.
