Help save Cleaver Woods
THE EDITOR: I am writing you this letter to ask for assistance in helping us to save Cleaver Woods. I am very concerned about this recreational park because it might be in danger. I say so because rumour has it that some business people are planning to destroy part of the forest and replace it with a housing project. I will be saddened if this were to happen. Many plants and trees will die and animals will lose their homes and die as well. At present a housing development has started on the southern side, just behind the woods.
Also it is feared that the well on this site may dry up. Flooding will eventually occur, along with landslides and soil erosion. This wonderful rainforest has an aesthetic value to mankind, including the memorable site of the historical Amerindian Museum. This park is there for recreational purposes and you can visit there in your leisure time. It is open to the public. If it is destroyed it will be a very big disadvantage for the many eco-tourists and people who visit there regularly. I am asking you to make sure it is enjoyed but not destroyed. On behalf of my class and I, we are pleading to you to save this historical landmark from destruction.
