Clean up service on ‘Cat’ first

THE EDITOR: It was great news coming from the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, that Mr Orville London, our Tobago Chief Secretary, has recommended to Government to purchase/lease another Catamaran similar to “The Cat.” But management of the Government Shipping Service have to get their act together in Tobago and Trinidad. Having travelled for the past couple of months, on no less than (6) six occasions to and from Trinidad, I believe we need the following to be put into place now!

1. Stop packing people, children included, like cattle in pens to be slaughtered, and when the gates are opened and people start pushing and jamming each other.

2. You arrive, you check your ticket, you get it stamped, you board (after showing your ID and stamped ticket to the boarding clerks.) Hours before, just make sure the captain and his crew are aboard.

3. Further to the above, this would ensure proper checking of IDs, as at this moment this is not being carried out, because of the present system.

Before you put another “CAT” on line, get management to put their house in order re checking in at both ends (TT), staff punctuality, cashiers, clerks, security. More  security officers on board patrolling the vessel consistently (15-minute cycles), to ensure people behave themselves on board, especially with women and children present. God Bless.
