Connection, Army in Pro Bowl showdown

DEFENDING champs W Connection and Defence Force will square off in the semi-final round of the TT Pro League Pro Bowl competition at Mannie Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella at 8.15 pm today.

In the quarter-finals last week, Connection took care of North East Stars 2-0, while Defence Force edged United Petrotrin 2-1. Connection have been unbeaten in all their Pro League encounters this season, but will be wary of complacency against the youthful Army-Coast Guard combination.

Another team who must keep focus this evening are CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh, who have a relatively easy task versus Tobago United (who got a bye into the semis).

Tobago United have improved their personnel this year but are yet to make any impact against the other six teams in the League. Jabloteh, who trounced Caledonia AIA/Fire last week at the Marabella facility, are tipped to progress into the final on May 27.

The prize monies for the winner in the Pro Bowl has risen to $50,000, due to major crowd support at the triple-header quarter-final clash at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium last Friday.

The prize monies started at $30,000 with the injection of two sponsors — Oscar Francois Limited and National Flour Mills.

Football fans responded to the call and came out in their numbers for the triple-header. And with the tournament going into its final stages the league is anticipating further good crowd support.

The league continues to encourage and stress to all clubs the importance of working with the communities to bring out their supporters in order to make the prize monies even more attractive for the winner.
