Improve main entrance near Valsyn

THE EDITOR: It is observed that the road reserve between the Southern Main Road and the adjacent wall-fence of ‘Kay Donna Drive Inn no longer exists. This was to allow for a filter lane of traffic to by-pass the light at the intersection, to ensure an uninterrupted flow of cars into the west-bound three lane traffic on the Churchill Roosevelt Highway. While this step is in the right direction it leaves existing dangers unattended. Firstly, removing the shoulder of the roadway to make way for a third lane of traffic is bad enough and to make matters worse, this lane cuts across the main entrance to Real Spring Gardens. Not an ideal situation for residents of the area and visitors who use the main entrance on a daily basis. I see no reason why this entrance cannot be improved to facilitate the filter of traffic.

Don’t tell me it cannot be done! There is sufficient land space available east of Farah’s Court suitable for filtering into the lane of traffic. The implementation of this plan calls for a transitional or easement curve of proper dimensions to accommodate the cars moving out and at the same time a well-constructed sidewalk giving easy access to residents and pedestrians. This is sorely needed immediately, as the present arrangement betrays a lack of consideration for all involved. There can be no doubt that the blind approach to the filter lane of traffic is the result of faulty planning. It can only be overcome by using the alternative suggested. This will remove the danger imposed on all moving to and fro through the main entrance to Real Spring Gardens, Valsayn.
